Through a peer-review process, a select group of submitted abstracts will be chosen for oral presentation at the conference. Abstracts for poster presentations also will be peer-reviewed. With a focus of this year’s theme, the program committee strongly encourages submissions related to the practice and science of rehabilitation psychology (including the business of practice) in both academic and nonacademic settings, rehabilitation topics for pediatrics and geriatrics, as well as caregiver issues for individuals living with chronic health conditions and/or disability.

Division 22 places a high value on learning from and collaborating with:

  • Professionals at all levels (e.g.., student/interns/postdoctoral trainees, early, mid, and late career)
  • Professionals providing rehabilitation services in a wide variety of settings (e.g., academic, educational, inpatient, outpatient, private sector, University Hospital, Community Medical Settings, government agencies, Department of Defense, and Veterans Health Administration)
  • Professionals providing rehabilitation services to diverse populations (e.g., children/adults, rural/urban, limb loss, burn, cardiac, chronic health conditions/disability, critically ill/intensive care, LGBTQ, MS, psychiatric, SCI, stroke, TBI)
  • Professionals providing rehabilitation services within interdisciplinary teams

Target Audience

This conference is designed for psychologists in practice and/or academic settings who focus on rehabilitation with individuals having chronic health conditions, impairments and / or physical and cognitive disabilities as well as for trainees (students, interns, and postdoctoral residents) with interests in rehabilitation psychology. Program content will be directed to all skill levels (basic, intermediate, and advanced).

Presenters can request 30 minutes to 4 hours of presentation time. At the time of submission, authors must include a CV, at least three APA formatted references, learning objectives, as well as intended audience level. Also, presenters interested in being considered for a full-day (i.e., 6-8 hours) preconference (Thursday, February 7th) please indicate this on the submission form.

All of those accepted to conduct presentations, workshops and symposia are required to register for the conference, are responsible for their own expenses (i.e. travel & registration) and will receive a reduced registration fee.

Please direct questions/problems regarding the e-submission portal to Rehabilitation Psychology 2019 Program Chair, Dr. Ann Marie Warren.
