Tiffany L. Cummings, PsyD, 38, passed away unexpectedly March 7 at her home in Winston-Salem. She was an assistant professor in the Division of Neuropsychology and was passionate about the study of the human brain.
Dr. Cummings received her BA with Honors in Psychology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She received an MS and her PsyD from the Florida Institute of Technology, and finished her clinical internship at the Henry Ford Health System in the Division of Neuropsychology. After completing a fellowship at the University of Florida in Clinical & Health Psychology and the Institute on Aging, she began her academic career at Wake Forest School of Medicine. She became board certified in clinical neuropsychology in April 2020, and immediately became active as a practice sample reviewer.
Tiffany is reunited with her brother, Christopher Cummings, and is survived by her mother, Glenda Cummings, father, Leonard Cummings, grandmother, Ruby Rippy, cousin, Vinson Kemp, and canine companions, Emmy and Charlie.
She volunteered countless hours at Stepping Stones Canine Rescue and made many personal sacrifices to help any four legged friend in need. Her obituary says she truly lived life to the fullest and will be remembered for her endless shenanigans.
The family would like to specially recognize all her friends, co-workers and fellow dog lovers who impacted her life, including her close childhood friends from Marion and Gastonia, classmates and roommates from UNC Wilmington, including her professor and mentor, Dr. Puente, graduate fellows from Florida Institute of Technology and University of Florida, co-workers from Wake Forest Baptist and cohort of friends across Winston-Salem and the rest of the nation.
Tiffany is greatly missed by her neuropsychology colleagues across the country, and by the Department of Neurology at Atrium Health Wake Forest Medical Center and Wake Forest University Medical School.
