Presentation Summary:

In this 3-hour intermediate continuing education webinar, participants will join presenters for a detailed examination of how and when psychologists’ duty to confront unethical behavior attaches. This will include discussion of the impact of our decision-making and actions on clients and the profession and how to decide on a course of action in response to observation of unethical or potentially unethical behavior. We will also discuss strategies for overcome barriers to action; the importance of understanding related legal obligations; and preventative measures/best practices.

Learning Objectives:

1. Describe a detailed decision-making process for confronting unethical behavior, and/or reporting when indicated.

2. Discuss three potential barriers to confronting/reporting, and how they can be overcome.

3. Describe three structural methods to support ethical practice among ourselves and our practice communities.
