Members of the Psychologists in Public Service Committee and ABPP Executive Office have been working together to update the ABPP website regarding HIPAA compliance and information security. This is to reflect current processes with the new website portal, as much has changed over the last few years. Some documents have been removed as they were obsolete, and others have been added to demonstrate ABPP’s commitment to privacy and information security.

We are pleased to share these resources with our Specialists and we hope that you can pass along this information to colleagues who will be embarking on the board certification process.

ABPP’s Security Protection for Candidate’s Application and Practice Samples, is directed to hospital or academic setting privacy officers. Similarly, ABPP’s HIPAA Compliance for VA Privacy Officers, is directed to information security and privacy officers within the Veterans Health Administration. These documents were developed in order to answer common questions that have been raised by Candidates and their respective privacy officers in the past.

Both documents can be found on the ABPP website: https://abpp.org/candidate-information/hipaa-file-security/
