Dear OBPP readers,
It has been an honor to serve as the Editor of the American Board of Professional Psychology’s official publication, On Board with Professional Psychology. I have served in this role since June 2023 and I look forward to passing the baton to OBPP’s incoming Editor, Dr. Casey Cavanagh.
When I began this position, my primary goal was to support the efforts of ABPP’s Specialists, Board of Trustees, Communications Committee, and relevant stakeholders to provide an outlet for Specialists to:
- foster connection and knowledge-sharing
- attract more professionals to pursue board certification
- increase connections between specialists and the general public
- appropriately reflect the diversity (in all its forms) of our readership
- highlight the relevance of our work to current events and trends
I believe we have successfully moved toward these goals over the course of eight published issues of the ABPP publication in its redesigned online format and under the new title of On Board with Professional Psychology. I am enormously grateful for the time and expertise that goes into each issue we publish, including special thanks to our Reviewers, members of the ABPP Communications Committee, and the Associate Editors who made this work possible during my term as Editor.
It has been a rewarding and enlightening experience to hear from Specialists across various disciplines in professional psychology and learn about the impressive breadth and depth of our Specialists’ expertise and influence. After 2 years of serving in this role, I am more convinced than ever that our Specialists are at the forefront of many exciting endeavors that have real, lasting impacts on the practice of professional psychology and our wider communities. I am grateful to have learned from all of you, and I look forward to many more opportunities to witness the tremendous contributions of our Specialist community.
As On Board with Professional Psychology moves forward under new leadership, I encourage you to share your ideas, contributions, feedback, suggestions, pitches, and letters. You can reach the Editorial Team at editor@abpp.org. Please contact us if you have ideas about how we can continue to improve the On Board with Professional Psychology publication and work to make it a primary resource for you as an ABPP Specialist.
It has been a great honor to serve in this role with On Board with Professional Psychology, and I look forward to reading each future issue going forward!
