Artificial Intelligence and the Evolving Role of the Psychologist: An AI Webinar for ABPP Specialists (2 CE)
This two-hour continuing education seminar provides an overview of how artificial intelligence is being integrated into psychology, with a focus on issues relevant to psychologists and our ABPP specialists. Presenters will discuss the intersection of artificial intelligence with ethical use, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance, emphasizing the secure and responsible use of AI in clinical care. The program highlights practical applications for improving efficiency, including documentation and administrative support. Attention is given to accuracy, reliability, and evidence-based use, with strategies to verify outputs and avoid common pitfalls. Participants will gain concrete tools for leveraging AI while navigating the ethical and professional considerations essential for responsible implementation.

About Presenters:
Jeni McCutcheon, PsyD, MSCP, ABPP, has been a licensed psychologist for 25 years and is double board-certified in Clinical Psychology and Police and Public Safety Psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, her practice specializes in clinical psychology and police and public safety psychology with a focus on developing systems for psychological service delivery in both agency and independent practice settings. She is a published author, holds multiple leadership positions, and serves on the American Board of Professional Psychology’s Ethics Consultation Committee, as well as co-chairing the Arizona Psychological Association’s Ethics Consultation Committee. She is the Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the American Board of Professional Psychology and currently chairs the ABPP Artificial Intelligence Task Force. She enjoys providing and attending professional training and offering consultation services to fellow psychologists.
Dr. Ernest Wayde is Founder and Principal of Wayde AI, where he helps healthcare organizations and clinical leaders navigate the ethical integration of artificial intelligence. He serves as a Subject Matter Expert on the American Board of Professional Psychology’s AI Task Force and contributed to the American Psychological Association’s Health Advisory on the Use of Generative AI Chatbots and Wellness Applications for Mental Health—addressing critical safety, validation, and regulatory concerns in consumer-facing mental health technologies. Dr. Wayde specializes in responsible AI implementation, helping organizations design systems that enhance rather than replace human expertise. He advises on AI governance frameworks, validation methodologies, and the organizational dynamics of technological change, combining behavioral science with practical AI strategy to ensure innovations align with clinical values, regulatory compliance, and patient wellbeing. Currently, he co-produces “Beyond the Couch: AI in Psychology,” a podcast collaboration between ABPP and Wayde AI exploring AI’s role in mental health practice. He holds a doctorate in Clinical and Cognitive Psychology and advanced AI certifications from MIT Sloan and Microsoft.
