Clinical Psychology Board & Academy
Awardee: Corey Arranz, PsyD, ABPP
Dr. Corey Arranz has provided eight years of exemplary service to the American Board of Clinical Psychology. He has served as the Southeast Regional Director, Credential Reviewer, Appeals Coordinator, and recently volunteered to serve as MOC Coordinator. He has been a wonderful team player and has supported ABCP in various roles and committees. Dr. Corey Arranz is most deserving of this award.
Clinical Neuropsychology Board & Academy
Awardee: Bernice Marcopulos, PhD, ABPP
Dr. Bernice Marcopulos has served as the Executive Director for both the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology (ABCN) and the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology (AACN) since 2021. Prior to this, she served on the board for ABCN and oral examiner from 2003 to 2008 and was on the examination committee from 2006 to 2021. Both ABCN and AACN rely on her depth of experience for information and guidance. For example, in 2024, Dr. Marcopulos helped design and analyze an important anonymous climate survey of AACN membership. Both the Board and Academy are deeply grateful for her service.
Forensic Psychology Board & Academy
Awardee: Krissie Fernandez Smith, PhD, ABPP
This award is in recognition of Dr. Krissie Fernandez Smith’s exceptional service to the American Board of Forensic Psychology (ABFP). In addition to bringing a wealth of knowledge regarding forensic psychology to her positions on the board, Dr. Fernandez Smith served in the demanding role of Corresponding Secretary for five years. She also reviewed numerous practice samples and participated in multiple oral examinations. As President of the board, Dr. Fernandez Smith led ABFP through the ABPP Periodic Comprehensive Review process and made substantial improvements to the Candidate Manual and Examiner Manual. Dr. Fernandez Smith has also conducted several presentations focused on developing and improving forensic assessments in diverse populations.
Geropsychology Board
Erin Emery-Tiburcio, PhD, ABPP
With this award, we wish to honor Dr. Erin E. Emery-Tiburcio’s extraordinary contributions to preparing our health care workforce to provide age-friendly health care and competently delivered mental health services to older adults. Dr. Emery-Tiburcio demonstrates multifaceted leadership. She coleads the Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health Disparities in Aging (the ‘E4 Center’), which advances workforce capacity to meet the behavioral and mental health needs of an aging population through training and technical assistance for health care providers and community organizations. She has been and remains involved in multiple, related initiatives to support geropsychology practice, especially for older adults in underserved communities. Her wide-ranging research has been impactful for practice, with a focus on promoting age-friendly and team-based health care, improving telehealth access, and disseminating evidence-based practices for older adults. Most recently, she cochaired the American Psychological Association’s Task Force on the Guidelines for Psychological Practice with Older Adults (2024) and received the APA Award for Distinguished Contributions to Independent Practice (2024).
