Dear OBPP Readers,
I am thrilled and honored to be assuming the role of Editor for On Board with Professional Psychology. I am grateful to the past Editor, Alexander Khaddouma, PhD, ABPP, for his stewardship and growth of OBPP over the past several years. Dr. Khaddouma reinvigorated OBPP and I hope to continue to promote OBPP as a forum for specialists to learn about the many advancements and critical opportunities in our field. I’m also immensely appreciate of Dr. Kuravackel, Associate Editor for OBPP, and Dr. Khaddouma’s mentorship as I begin my Editor responsibilities. Their guidance has truly helped to foster an atmosphere of collaboration and their passion for OBPP has been an inspiration. I also extend my thanks to the Communications Committee for the American Board of Professional Psychology, the reviewers for OBPP, the web team for developing and launching a new submission system for OBPP, and the contributions from our many specialists.
I have long been interested in communication – from how psychologists and other healthcare clinicians communicate to patients, how science communicates to the public – and this passion has informed many aspects of my career path. I am energized by serving in professional organizations in communication-focused capacities and particularly in roles that facilitate exchanges between members and in how we represent psychology to other audiences. Similarly, I have long been a champion of ABPP and the important role that board certification plays within our field. When I learned of the opportunity to apply for the role of Editor for OBPP I was excited by the opportunity to contribute to ABPP and collaborate with the many specialists represented by ABPP.
As I begin my tenure as Editor for OBPP, I hope to continue to advance the publication as a unique opportunity for specialists to learn and grow. We are excited by the opportunities to promote articles by a broad cross-section of specialists and by new opportunities on the horizon for specialists to contribute to OBPP.
I end as I began with a sincere thank you to the many who have been involved in guiding me and bringing Issue 8 to fruition.
